B+
Hello!!
So, the heading for this post is a pun that I thought of, but it isn't entirely meaningless. When you pronounce it, I hope you don't say "B Plus". I am referring to the blood group B+. What do I have to say about blood? Nothing. When we pronounce B+ [the blood group], we say, B POSITIVE! And that's what it should be!!!! So, the B stands for Be and the + stands for Positive. Unfortunately, it's not my blood group but is that even important right now?
Our thoughts are positive, most of the time. And then there is the half a glass of water thing. If we have great luck and are feeling amazing, we think of the glass as half full. That is, we think from a positive and optimistic point of view. If we are having a terrible day, we feel that it wouldn't hurt to have anything more to go wrong and henceforth, think of the glass as half empty and we think from a negative and pessimistic POV.
Some people just have a habit of calling half-filled glasses half empty. These people just tend to jump onto the worst conclusions. They have this constant urge in themselves to point out something wrong. In a way, pointing out mistakes is something that makes them feel somewhat superior. They cannot admit the sheer truth at times and that can turn out to be quite unbearable.
Meanwhile, some people have that optimistic perspective stuck in their minds. They point out the good in everything and find it hard to believe that something is wrong. But then again, life isn't all sunshine and rainbows. A better way to say it is that life has its challenges, but it's those challenges that make the good moments even more precious. Sometimes we just have to deal with the bad. Not necessarily in a fight fire with fire kind of way, we just shouldn't go on as if nothing has happened.
Just the right amount of everything. No, it's not that. I just didn't find a picture of a half-filled glass. |
Staying all "everything's great!" is not the best option. It actually means that we are trying to avoid the reality. Controlling your tears because you want to remain happy is wrong. It's good to let out tears, and just let's just face it, after crying about some bad thoughts that are haunting you is like lifting a huge weight off your shoulders.
In the Disney and Pixar movie, Inside Out {1}, there is a meaning filled scene related to what I've been trying to explain. One of the characters has had a huge loss and feels absolutely terrible. Joy, who is one of the emotions, tries to comfort Bing Bong (said character) and get him to think positively. It doesn't help much. Sadness, another emotion, begins highlighting that loss and sympathizes Bing Bong. Joy tells Sadness to stop, but she does not. Bing Bong bursts into tears and feels better after that, to Joy's surprise.
That scene basically says, let it out! Sure, I am also saying B+ and stuff, but you'll only be so when you don't have anything sad or bad to think about! Excess optimism can lead to unrealistic expectations and a big break from reality, from the obvious truth.
Honestly, Inside Out is one of my favorite movies. You should really watch it if you haven't yet. Inside Out 2 is the sequel which is just as interesting and relatable as the first movie!
Thank you soooooooooooo much for reading this!!!!
